The Historical Development of Values Education in the Philippines
Values education in the Philippines has been undergoing multiple changes in its orientation from the early past up to the present time. In this paper, the changes in the orientation of the Philippine values education in various historical periods were traced. Four factors affecting the emphasis if the values education programs were traced. They were colonial experience, quest for independence, political circumstances and globalization. Each of these factors will be discussed in this paper and how they affect the orientation of values education in the country in the respective periods.
