Assessing the Employability Skills among Technical Training Students
Employability skills are needed to be gainfully employed. However, many high school graduates may not have employabilty skills even if they are technically competent. The study attempted to determine the levels of employability skills among technical training students. Four hundred and thirty six trainees participated in the study. Their employability skills were assessed using SCANS. This instrument assess trainees on their basic skills, thinking skills, resources skills, informational skills, interpersonal skills, system and technology skills and personal qualities. The findings showed that trainees possess the employability skills. The level of the their employability skills was quite high with means ranging between 3.79 to 4.13. Comparisons were made with regard to employability skills among trainees of different gender and programs.
