To add a paper, Login.

Short term study abroad cultural exchanges have been in existence for many years. Most of these exchanges have been for students at the university level. More recently these exchanges have become available to high school and middle school students around the world. First, this paper will look in depth at the meaning of cultural exchange and how to make the exchange meaningful and educational rather than a sightseeing tour. Second, this paper will look at an actual exchange that took place between middle school students from Shenzhen, China and Aliso Viejo, California. Next, the paper will evaluate this exchange and examine if this exchange was an actual cultural exchange. Then, the paper will analyze the project more critically and see what works, what doesn’t and why. Finally, I will look at this particular exchange and see how it can benefit others and whether other schools in the United States and China could do similar exchanges in the future.
