Exploration of the Learning Styles of Educational Executives: Implication for Management Education

Learning has become very important for transforming organizations and introducing new approaches to organization’s culture. The paper gives a theoretical framework on learning and provides a critical analysis of the different learning styles models. The paper stressed that the concept of learning styles is intimately related to the concept of learning as an active process in which each person, when receiving information, processes it and relates the data received in accordance with their own cultural and personal characteristics. This paper presents the findings of a study to explore the different learning styles of educational executives in Nigeria based on Kolb’s Learning Models.Quetionaires were administered to fifty Management staff of the National Open Universities who were randomly selected and their views analysed.The study revealed that there are variation in the learning styles of the executives .The paper recommends that management educational institutions should in in its designing of executives courses focus on the learning styles from the design of educational pattern up to the facilitation .The participants learning styles provide valuable educational information to the course designer about both the individual learning, and learning as a group as this have important implications for the training of education executives in the knowledge economy
